My Answers

1) Through out the novel  we can find there is an explanation and problem solving of affair between veronica and tony or Adrian. The meaning of blood money in this novel is that Veronica’s mother Sarah has given her money to Tony Webster for veronica and that money is called the blood money. The other points of view in the novel is that tony is responsible for Adrian’s suicide and  veronica knew that about the letter Tony has all the information about this suicide. While during their relationship Adrian also used to call her (Veronica) as a damage girl. while on the other hand sarah and Adrian also have an affair.  Think in this context Branes has used the word “Blood Money”.

2)   How do you decipher the equation: b = s – v x/+ a1 or a2 + v + a1 X s = b?

Here Julian Barn has used cryptic language like Dan Brown has used in Da Vinci Code. Barnes has used very complex relation between this characters. Here B= baby, S -sarah, V=veronica and a1=Adrian, as Sarah and her daughter Veronica do not have good relations so here (s-v) negative relation between mother and daughter ( v x/+ a1 ) means and her this negative relation with her daughter leads her to have relation with Adriane and b=baby as it was the child of Adrian and Sarah. And the second a2=Anthony Tony Webster=Veronica, a1=Adrian’s= Sarah b= baby. Here Anthony Webster‘s girl friend who has break up and Veronica who has a relation with Adrian and somehow Adrian’s relation with Sarah and baby as above mention here I like to mention that a2 is for Anthony Webster who has break up with girl friend and he could not tolerate that and write a letter who was also read by Adrian and who met to Veronica mother and they have an affair and they have the baby.

3) Adrian’s diary is willed to Tony by Sarah Ford. How come Sarah Ford owned it? Why was it in the possession of Veronica?

Adrian suicide is the top secret throughout the novel. When Adrian has committed suicide at that time he was with Veronica’s mother, but after a day passing the Diary was catched by Tony through Veronica as he is touched with her through the email.

5)  How was Veronica related to Adrian, the one suffering in care-in-the-community?

First of all according to Tony’s point of view Veronica and Adrian had an affair, so it becomes one relation between them. While on the other side Adrian and Sarah had relation and through that relation a new baby was born so in this point of view the baby and Veronica is in sibling’s relation.
6) Do you see any possible reason in Adrian’s suicide?
There are my possible reason can be found through the Adrian’s suicide. The one reason is that ma be he has some person conflict in his life and he may can’t explain to other person. The other reason is may he has some delicate feelings towards his love or affair.

7) In the light of new revelations, how do you read character of Veronica? Instinctive, manipulative, calculating, stubborn, haughty, sacrificial, trustworthy, good Samaritan?

According to my point of view she is more practical girl in her life. She has many affairs in her life though she has scarified her love and gets not married till the end of her life or even the end of the novel. She even more caring character in her life because there is one reference also shows that she more cared her brother. So it can be called that she is sacrificial, somehow trustworthy and good Samaritan.

8)  What do you mean by Unreliable Narrator? Is Tony Webster

The meaning of unreliable narrator shows the no one can put trust on the narrator, while on the other hand there is no any perfect narration about the characters. In this novel we may also find complex relation between the characters. So in this point of view Tony can be called as an unreliable narrator.

Da Vinci Code

My Answers

The movie is very appropriate to the novel but if we look at the beginning part of the novel that makes some changes. The text Da Vinci code is popular fiction and as per the popular work it also tells us the prologue, it is about the museum louver while the movie open with the death of Grandfather Jacques sauniere. According to my opinion the direct make this change in movie because the opening scene can gave more effect to the movie.

Throughout the movie we can find the challenging ideas about the Christianity. However till the end of the novel or the movie we cannot find any clear cut idea about the Holy Grail or the sarcophagus of Mary magdelin, the secret of Sophie’s identity and the blood of Jesus can’t revel till the end.

In the Da Vinci code, Christian religion also hides some fact about the identity of Mary whether she is prostitute the nearest of the Jesus Christ. The hidden truth of Christianity shows that it can build more faith of the devotee.

The whole book is based on the symbol of the Da Vinci. The more using symbol Holy Grail is itself we can say archetypal symbol, which contain an entire pattern of themes of the novel. However as an archetypal symbol we can read as dreams as well as other psychic phenomenon. In the Christianity the Holy blood  is more valuable that it began the greatest adventure in the western history.

The glass pyramid in the museum is also read as male and female phallic symbol.

The button of Bezu Fache is symbol of Opus Dei.

Mona Lisa’s painting can be read as half male and half female.

Cryptex is one symbol of the creation which deals with the notebook of author himself.

The flower design on the key is also deals with the priory of Sion.

Throughout the movie or novel we can find the blood, which stands for the truth and enlightenment. It is also symbol of church’s intention to cover up the true world.

The feminine sacredness in the novel we can find first in the painting of Monalisa which deals with the gender biases which portrayed as half male and half female. It is also makes the satire on priest’s life which is mostly deals with the richness and luxurious life. It also shows the war between the pagan (believer of many gods) and Christianity (believer of one god).

Here I am deconstruct the idea of the Dan Brown that the book is not anti-Christian, but the opus Dei itself suggest that

“Jesus was mortal one day and divine the next day”.

This statement shows the anti-religion ideas.

The text is totally narration of the Da Vinci’s painting which is called art and as per the views of scholar “Art is always against the religion”

I think the narration of the paradise lost is more convincing to the contemporary time because it shows the real situation of the contemporary condition of the woman in the Indian society. The weakness of Eve and the fall of Eve we can compare with the fall of woman in the patriarchal society.

I think there is wast difference of the narration of the John Milton and the Da Vinci code because the whole book of the paradise lost deals with the innocent of Eve and Adam there is no any intrigue and corruption in their behavior and on the other point of view it shows the humanity in the satanic world, while on the other hand we cannot find any clear vision of the character sketch of the text Da Vinci Code. Everyone has some mystery and secrets in their life. Corruption and the jealousy we can more find in this novel.

There are many differences of the portrayal  of Ophelia in movie Hamlet, she is shown as more weak and innocent character. However she is not free will to choose her own life with her own way. She is treated as puppet on the hand of the patriarchal society. While the Hester Prynne no doubt treated as a sinful lady but she has a courage to live with enthusiasm though she is out casted or scapegoat of her own situation. While in the Da Vinci Code Sophie is the symbol of the perfect modernization. She is grown with total freedom and individualism. She has free will to choose her own path. She is more intelligent and practical than above all the female character.

One Nighrt @ call centre

This Blog is about One Night @ call centre

This tasks is about the Pre- task, while- task and Post task of screening movie Hello and the novel One night @ call center by Chetan Bhagat

In the following link you will find the questions about this task and below this link you will find my answers of these questions.

A) I agree with the sentence given by Tharoor that Bhagat has talent for taping in to the zeitgeist because at a one glance one night @ call center define the all contemporary issues with including the six character. It also shows the unsatisfactory human as well as city life. The contemporary issues like love problem, broken family, family issues and corruption in the business, modernization
Etc. shows the spirit of the age.

B) Modernization is the current and big issue seen in this novel. Through this novel we can say that he is minute observer of the very small thing. However the problem of young age as well as the old age can be seen widely. Including six character in the novel we can justify the different six lives and family issues. The reality of society and the fact of the society can perfectly been measure in this novel.

C) Chetan Bhagat’s work deals with contemporary issues and I think for this reason his most of the novel turns in to the Bollywood films. Love problem we can find common in his all works. However the other issues like ambition, corruption in Revolution 2020, Anti American and nationalism as well as modern issues we can find in one night @ call center, 2 states define the different culture and mentality of their people and impact of western culture.

Narrative structure of the novel shows the dream sequence of the writer himself. It also follows the Aristotelian formula of unity that is Time, Place and action. It also include prologue is the part of the story. The narrative structure defines the air of realism and flash back technique. We may also touch with humor that comes time and again in the novel.

The epilogue and title also define that it is a story of one night and on the other side Chetan Bhagat himself listing a story from unknown lady through his journey from Kanpur to Delhi.

To The Lighthouse

This tasks is about the Pre- task, while- task and Post task of screening movie To The Lighthouse and the novel by Virginia Woolf

In the following link you will find the questions about this task and below this link you will find my answers of these questions.

My answers

Answer second;

The tribute and critique of Mrs.Ramsay. In this novel these both features is presented. The tribute shows that Mrs.Ramsay is presented as a very loving and beautiful character. Throughout the novel she is like a very careful about her family. Even she proves as a dutiful and loving wife but often struggle with her husband’s mood and selfishness. In the lily’s painting there is a representation of struggle against gender convention like Mrs.Ramsay whole life with her husband. Lily’s painting shows the beauty of Mrs.Ramsay as a beauty of Woolf’s mother.
But the critical analysis of Mrs.Ramsay shows that in her whole life she live under the command of her husband. Even she never deals with her desire or the suppression against her husband. There is not activeness in her character and only deals with the household things. We cannot find any extraordinary things in her thinking.

Answer four

Here Joseph Blotner has describe the two types of famous myths. Which are
 1) The pagan myth
 2) Oedipus myths
The pagan myth represented primordial goddesses and it is described the major role of female with the idea of Karl Jung. It is mentioned the female role like the mother, daughter and wife. In this myth Rhea is presented as a mother, Demeter is presented as a wife and Persephore is presented as a Daughter. The importance of this myth in this novel is that here these three role is reflected in only one character that is Mrs. Ramsay.
The Oedipus myth describe with the character of James. Here James attraction towards Mrs.Ramsay.
The male phallic symbol represents feminine Mrs.Ramsay how?
Here the female phallic symbol is The window and the male phallic symbol is The lighthouse. The female phallic symbol shows the life giving identity and power and male phallic symbol (The lighthouse) is praising the light in a way Mrs.Ramsay praising herself. Love and stability is described in to the character of Mrs.Ramsay.

 Answer five

Here the meaning of Kunstleroman means the novel about somebody’s life or Artist’s novel.
According to this meaning we can say that in this novel many biographical catches included by the author. Like
1) Mrs. Ramsay’s character drawn as a mother of Virginia.
2) Deep philosophical thinking of Virginia reflected in the dialogue of the novel.
3) 8 siblings of author drown as children of Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay.
4) Drown herself in water.(suicide)

Answer seven

The beginning of the novel shows the quarrel between Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay. There is no any satisfactory beginning and end of this novel. Even the end shows that reaching to the lighthouse. Moving narration and there is no any dialogues between the Mr.Ramsay and James. The novel is also with open ending. There is no clarification about the other character of the Mr.Ramsay family, only the death of Mrs.Ramsay is shown. The novel promise only misfortunes for the women. Mrs.Ramsay dies unexpected at a relatively young age. The novel also gives the punishment to the female gender who accepts the position of mother and wife.

Answer eight

The ends with like this “close doors and open the windows, you are a fool” here I think it ends with lily. It shows that open window means there is little opportunities for lily to come out from her dilemma. However the novel also ends with the painting of lily but in the painting there is no any perfect vision of the lily towards Mrs.Ramsay. In the end, she decided that her vision depends on balance and synthesis. The painting also represents dedication of feminine artistic vision.
so this is my point of view.
                                                                                                  Thank you ......

What is existentialism?

Existentialism is a term to the work of certain late 19th and 20th century philosopher. It was inaugurated in Europe. The major existentialists are
1) Sore Kierkegaard (1813-55)
2) Fyodor Dostoevsky(1821-81)
3) Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900)
However the 20th century existentialists are
Kafka, Marlin Heidegger, Albert Camus, Maurice merleau-ponty, jean- Paul Sartre
The existentialist movement shows the human condition like why am I here? What does it mean to be human? How should I live my life?
The main idea of this movement is that existence proceeds essence that the central position of existentialism is that for the individual is the fact that he or she is only individual. The actual life of the individual is what constitutes what could be called his or her “true essence’’ instead of there being an arbitrary.

What is absurd theater?

Generally the meaning of absurd theater shows that there is no any action or rising action in the play. It is originally written in the French, it also define the tragic- comedy and hope or hopelessness in the play.
Theater of absurd covered the wide variety of playwrights with differing style; they do have some common stylistic precursors. In short the theater of absurd shows “nothingness’’ in the play as well as life.

Answers

1) The connection of painting and setting clearly visible in this play. Because the painting has two waiters who are waiting for someone by observing the three, like the same way it is also shown in the play that both character Vladimir and Estrogen are waiting for Godot. The painting does not shows the clear vision of the final result of waiting in the same way play does not have appropriate end.  There is all the setting of the sun and upcoming night in the painting.

2) The absurd theater shows both the hope and hopelessness in the same way here the tree show both hope and hopelessness. In the first act there is no any leaves on the tree but in the second act there may have four or five leaves that shows the hope of new lives or upcoming for Godot.

3) I think the evening fall is shows the burning desire of both the Vladimir and Estrogen, because they are waiting for Godot till the long time but actually they don’t know whether he will come or not. Even the audience of the play or readers of the play even don’t know actually who is Godot? Is he human being or god? These questions remain present throughout the play.

4) The play begins with “nothing to be done” it means the weakness of the character or the negative mind-set of the character is here shown. This dialogue is more spoken by Estrogen and he has also the less memory rather than the Vladimir. Even the action of these characters also shows no any logical connection that way here nothingness is may present.

5) The hats and boots are playing vital role in this play. Here it is presented symbolically. The symbol of boot presented with the character of Estrogen that shows the lower order thinking as he has also had less memory. His thinking does not represent any logical dialogues throughout the play. Boots here may relate with the body and it shows the material thing.

Hat also play vital role in the play. It is related with the character of Vladimir, the hat also shows the higher order thinking and logical connection. In the play we may observe that there also the mind power of the answer of Vladimir. It shows the spirituality of the life.

6) Yes, I think that the character of lucky is irritating because his duty only to obey his master’s order. Even he has not at least a single freedom that he can move his body. Through this character I think that such slavery of man is unbelievable.

7)  According to my point of view Godot means the falling down or the death because there is no any success of characters who are waiting for him till long time. In the same way even they don’t find any positive result of his waiting as the unsuccessful man find the ultimate result of death.

8) Yes, the subject of this play is not Godot but waiting because the activity of both characters shows nothingness. No any rising action in the play, no any climax in the play. Only the story goes on moving with the illogical activities of them. They only are killing the time.

9) I think the reading of the play better understands because in movie the dialogues are goes on telling one by one that’s way we don’t have enough time to think so. Even the dialogue of Vladimir represents the deep philosophical than the dialogue of Estrogen.

10) The effect of existentialism clearly shown in this play through the character of it. Because they are waiting for someone and till the time up they have to wait for him, it means they both are dependent on other. They don’t any freedom to think like in his own way. The character’s activity also shows the nothingness in his life.

The Birthday Party

This Blog is about the Pre - Task, While- task and Post - task of screening movie The Birthday Party by Herold Pinter.

In the following link you may find the questions about the movie and below this link my answers of these questions.

http://dilipbarad.blogspot.in/2013/09/worksheet-film-screening-harold-pinters.html

Comedy of menace is a term used to describe the plays of Dvidcampton and Heroldpinter by drama critic Irvin Wardle, borrowed from the subtitle of campton’s play the lunatic view; A comedy of Menace.

1) comedy of menace is actual violence in the play.
2) it is one type of tragedy with number of comic elements.
3) there is strong connection between the character’s predicaments and audience’s personal anxiety.

Pinter pause

Pinter pause shows that when his characters are not speaking at all that become the a trademark of Pinter’s dialogue and known as the “Pinter Pause”

political play

the title of the play shows the “Birthday Party” but it is not the actual birth day party as we have in our real life. so the title itself shows the politics. the protagonist of the play Stanley webber  a pianist without work. so it may be shows the reality of the writer’s society.

The movie is well presented by the director William friedkin. I think the movie well presented the pinter’s pause, through the movie we can also understand well about the pause because text does not shows the action.
Movie is also quite different from the text because many of the lulu’s action is lacking in the movie. We observe that the two scenes of Lulu’s scenes in the movie omitted by the director because it’s very unacceptable and vulgar also.
it is also shows the modern reality.
there is also the symbol of Black car which is shows the negative side or something going to be wrong.
